In
the summer of 1997, three musicians assigned to play
in the same brass quintet met at the Aspen Music Festival.
As the summer progressed and their acquaintance turned
friendship, their ardent desire to continue playing
together solidified into the inception of a large brass
ensemble.

Many
United Brass members developed a relationship with conductor
Tad Suzuki during their early musical training. Mr.
Suzuki had frequently appeared at Interlochen Arts Academy
as a pedagogue and guest conductor when several current
United Brass members were still in high school. In light
of his expertise in the brass band tradition and pre-formed
relationships with some United Brass personnel, Mr.
Suzuki was the obvious choice in the search for a conductor.
Although
the members of United Brass are spread across the globe,
holding positions in orchestras from New York to Hong
Kong, the group is committed to convening for recordings
and tours on a regular basis. This commitment and the
bond of friendship among colleagues gives this group
an edge unlike any other.
